We offer many different classes after school. Kids can be picked from their school and brought to Creative Kids Place. Some of the schools we can pick up from include but not limited to the following:

All Saints, Castlebridge P/S, Churchill Meadows P/S, Divine Mercy, Garthwood P/S, Middlebury P/S, Mckinnon P/S, Oscar Peterson P/S, Sawmill Valley P/S, St. Bernard of Clairvaux, St. Clare, St. Margaret of Scotland & St. Marks.

Class Descriptions

 

Art Class 

This program provides an exciting introduction to a wide variety of art techniques including drawing, painting & sculpture. Different paint medium such as acrylic, watercolours, chalk & oil pastels will be introduced. Mixed media will also be explored. 

Sewing & Knitting 

In this class kids will learn how to safely operate  a sewing machine. They will learn to thread the machine and wind the bobbin. They will learn the skills to make things such as a plush owl, a dog or cat pillow, a tot bag, a draw string backpack, pajama shorts and a teddy bear. Kids will also learn basic knitting skills and make a scarf.

Crafts

In this class, kids will create a variety of unique arts & craft projects such as mask making, terra cotta pot crafts, t-shirt crafts, soap making, mod podge & much more.  

 

Clay

Kids will also be introduced to the world of clay and will create many projects that will be fired and painted using the coil, pinch & slab techniques. They will also learn how to throw clay on a pottery wheel and make a bowl.

Lego Robotics

Builders will be introduced to robotics using motors & sensors and building things like alligators, dancing birds, roaring lions, etc. that can programmed to move and make sounds. For advanced builders we have Lego Mindstorms NXT & EV3 where kids engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) while building and programming their robots. 

Video Game Programming (Grade 3 & Up)

In this class kids will be introduced to logic & programming concepts using visual code blocks which make it easy for kids to learn. Kids will learn simple programming concepts, computational thinking (sequencing, pattern recognition, automation), problem solving, critical thinking, experimentation, creative expression & adapting to new challenges (8 week program).
